The King is left wondering: "Who are these Neo-maxi Zoom-Dweebies?"

Bender's description of dorky Brian as a neo-maxi zoom-dweebie and "parent's dream" in The Breakfast Club makes us laugh. Bender and viewers know, however, that Brian will never become a rebel. He just doesn't have it.

Patrick Harvey and Lorna Slater, the Greens co-leaders, are also the worst losers of Scottish politics. The zoom-dweebies are announcing their futile revolt by refusing to attend the Royal Ceremony of Thanksgiving for King.

Tomorrow morning, King Charles will be crowned in Edinburgh. He has been a staunch advocate of the environment.

Harvey will instead wax lyrical like Tom Paine, at an anti-monarchy rally organized by Our Republic. The committee page and the founders' page are replete on their website with them/thems. It's a great way to stick it to the boss!

Even Republicanism sounds lame when it is compared to progressivism. Patrick Harvey's dulcet voice makes the great humanist aspiration to free ourselves from superstition, injustice, and other shackles seem lame.

Harvey, when asked to explain his decision not to attend the event said that "many people in Scotland view monarchy as an exhausting spectacle and symbol of values which we do not hold".

I will be happy to address the Our Republic rally and stand alongside others who are working to create a society in which power and wealth belong to all citizens and are not passed on as inheritance.

It is a dated and undemocratic institution. This is an outdated and undemocratic institution ."

It's okay, they are still ministers. Charles must also be respected for his environmental record. You can agree to some things and extend an olive branch, but not others.

Donald Cameron, Scottish Conservative MSP of the Highlands and Islands for Highlands and Islands is right to call this tiresome and infantile move News.

"The Greens have not delivered a deposit-return scheme but they can recycle anti-monarchy tirades that can be tedious."

Harvey and Slater need to pull out the huge branch from their rears, and then let it go. It would seem that ministers to the crown should be required to have this knowledge.

Charles may not be a Republican, but he loves the compost bins in ancient Romanian villages that live harmoniously with nature. Charles's environmentalist goes way beyond the banal and embraces spirituality. Scottish Greens cannot say the same.

Sunak Meloni: Understanding their chemistry

When Rishi Sunak first met his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, on the sidelines of Cop27 in Egypt, there was talk of an instant "chemistry". And, judging from the latest pictures in Vilnius, the spark has not faded. Last night, the pair was spotted giggling over some seemingly hilarious content on Meloni's phone, as they made their way to dinner at the NATO summit in Lithuania. While some deem Italy's controversial leader to be an unsavory company, it seems she is fast becoming Sunak's bestie. Witness the equally chummy snaps of them chuckling together at the G7 in Japan or the two sharing a tender moment on the steps of Number 10. Admittedly, when it comes to photographs of world leaders, looks can be deceiving. Behind the friendly handshakes and posed back pats often lie fraught bilateral tensions. Yet warm moments between Sunak and Meloni somehow appear more genuine. Indeed, Sunak's awkward body language seems to instantly dissolve in the presence of...

Artificially Stimulated Stupidity

Artificial Intelligence is still a hot topic. After a decade of hype, the launch of ChatGPT has finally given it some credence. ASS (or Artificially Stimulated stupidity, pronounced "A Ess" of course) is what people should focus on. ASS may have more of an impact on AI than its inherent qualities if it overtakes the human race, as many fear. ASS, while stupidity may be as old as humanity itself and as pervasive, is a relatively new phenomenon. Since the dawn of humanity, humans have tried to combat their innate stupidity through training and education. They also used relatively reliable ways of creating and distributing new information. All have recently broken down, and are still unreformed despite being easily fixable. These breakdowns encourage human stupidity artificially by making rational discussion and analysis more difficult. Government education At this point, almost all formal education in the US, K-PhD, is government-controlled, even when technically privately pr...

French letter: watching France tear apart while I lay in pain

Covid late-onset is the exact experience that you'd expect. Covid is a miserable experience. It causes a hacking cough and a headache. You feel short of breath. Your limbs are numb. And you're tired. It didn't appear to be fatal, at least not for me or my wife. Louisa was given the go-ahead this morning, and I hope to be able to do the same tomorrow. This means that we might just make it out to the pub Sunday. Paris is to blame, I'm sure. Louisa was in Montparnasse for an art event and she must have caught the illness either on her way home or from the crowd of art lovers. She was sick within two days after her return and thoughtfully shared the illness with me in order to avoid missing market day. We were lucky to have done our shopping the day after she returned. We found a dense loaf of bread that lasted for several days. Our neighbour Mael also left us goat's-milk and eggs on the terrace steps. What about France's near collapse into chaos and the abyss, th...
